Pediatric occupational therapy helps children and teens develop the skills needed to participate and thrive in their desired activities. These “occupations” can include things like school, play, feeding, self-care, social participation, emotional regulation, and so much more! While treatment sessions often look like play, therapeutic activities are intentional and individualized to meet the child and family’s unique needs.

The therapy process begins with a comprehensive evaluation which includes parent and child interview, clinical observation and/or standardized testing. Your therapist will ask detailed questions about medical and developmental history as well as strengths and needs of your child. An individualized treatment plan and goals will then be created collaboratively with your family to best meet your child’s personal needs. Treatment sessions are scheduled based on your child’s needs and family’s availability but typically occur weekly.
